About WY
I am a native Mandarin speaker with a deep passion for cross-cultural communication. My move to Christchurch was driven by my family’s academic pursuit—my partner is currently completing a PhD in Education at the University of Canterbury. This connection to advanced educational research keeps me inspired and informed about the most effective ways to teach and support learners.
I want to teach because I love seeing the "aha!" moment when a student finally grasps a complex tone or character. I am patient, organized, and dedicated to helping the Christchurch community connect with Chinese culture and language in a meaningful way.

I offer personalized Mandarin lessons designed to make language learning both practical and engaging. My teaching methodology focuses on "Situational Immersion," helping students build confidence through real-life conversations rather than just rote memorization.
What I offer:
Children & Teens: Interactive sessions with storytelling and games.
Adults: HSK preparation, Business Chinese, or travel conversation.
Customized Pace: Each lesson is tailored to your specific level and goals.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, but I can adapt to your schedule. I provide all learning materials, so you just need to bring your enthusiasm! Your first 30-minute trial session is free.
