About Galen
I have eleven years of experience as a tutor and instructor of English writing and literature. Fun fact: I got a perfect score on the English section of the ACT!
I've published writing in peer-reviewed journals and hold a PhD in English from Northeastern University, along with a Master's and a Bachelor's degree in English from Oklahoma State University, where I graduated with honors. I specialize in Modernist literature as well as writing in the field of technical communication.
I've taught classes in advanced and introductory writing, technical communication, and classes in American literature. No matter your skill level or comfort with writing, English, or test prep, I'm excited to help you achieve your goals!

Regardless of your goal, we'll start with you and your goals first- what do you want to get out of a tutoring session? Then we'll work through your document, and I'll provide personalized feedback for your writing, noting any particular areas of improvement so we can target them together.
Whether you're working on a resume for a job, your college admissions essay, or studying for a college-level English literature assignment, I like to provide multiple examples, targeting any big-picture goals you might have first, so that you walk away with tools to help you succeed, not just in this session, but into the future.
Some examples of where I can help: English and writing classes, high school to college-level writing (both at the undergraduate and graduate level), English literature classes, college admissions essays, resumes, theses and dissertations.
