About Consuelo
I am Consuelo, an Italian girl who is currently based in Nottingham for her PhD. I did my A levels at Liceo Prati Trento (Italy), which is one of the most prestigious high schools in Italy, with a focus on humanistic subjects, such as Latin, Ancient Greek and Italian. During my high school years, I had the chance to do an exchange year in Scotland, where I did my Highers in English, Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Physics. I graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technologies (University of Milan) with a special distinction in 2020 and then I decided to continue my studies with a PhD at the University of Nottingham. Although English is not my first language, my proficiency in reading and listening are to native standard and I can write to a high level (IELTS score: 8). These skills are demonstrated and advanced through my work as a doctoral researcher, in which I regularly convey complex ideas verbally and in writing.

For the past two years, I have been tutoring high school and university students, even with learning disabilities, in chemistry and other sciences. A lesson usually lasts from 1 to 2 hours and it is split in three parts: introduction and explanation, exercises and revision. I usually ask students to provide me information about the topics they want to focus on a few days in advance, in order to be able to prepare all the teaching material and exercises. I also give students optional assignments that cover topics of the lesson and the opportunity to contact me throughout the week if they have doubts.

Consuelo is a very hard working PhD student. Curious to learn, but at the same time enthusiastic about transmitting her knowledge. You can tell she is passionate about science, not only because this passion has made her move to another country, but also for her way to talk about what she is doing.
She is really competent and has already had experience in teaching at the University of Nottingham, where she is involved in practice courses in the lab with undergrad and master students. As a colleague, I have no doubts in recommending her as tutor, because beyond science, she has always shown an immense patience and I’m sure she will put all of her efforts into it!
