About Natalie
I’m a professional actor, singer and vocal coach based in Edinburgh, with over two decades of teaching experience alongside an active career in theatre, television and film.
I trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly RSAMD), where I gained an MA in Performance of Musical Theatre, following undergraduate study in Drama and Psychology, Jazz and Popular Voice. I have also undertaken further professional acting training at HB Studio in New York.
As a performer, I’ve worked extensively in theatre, including productions for the National Theatre of Scotland and the Royal Lyceum Theatre. My screen credits include Apple TV’s Hijack, BBC’s River City and the BAFTA-nominated feature Only You.
Alongside my private practice, I have taught voice and performance in a wide range of professional and educational settings. I currently teach Musical Theatre Voice to selected BMus (Hons) students at the University of Edinburgh, and my wider teaching has included acting for stage and screen, spoken voice, musical theatre, acting for camera and performance coaching.
My work extends beyond performing and teaching into writing and directing. I’m a regular writer for BBC’s River City, have written for Scottish Opera, and have written and directed work for screen. This breadth of experience informs the way I work with performers: I understand performance from the perspective of the actor, singer, writer and director.
Most importantly, I still work professionally in the industry. I think that matters as a teacher: I know what it feels like to audition, to self-tape, to rehearse, to take direction and to walk into a professional room and deliver.

I’m a highly experienced vocal (sung and spoken voice) and acting coach, as well as a professional singer and actor currently working in theatre, television and film.
I’ve been teaching for over two decades and hold an MA from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, as well as a BA in Acting and Jazz & Popular Voice. My approach is warm, supportive and highly individual: every voice and every performer is different, so I tailor lessons to the student, their goals and the way they learn best.
Singing & Vocal Technique
I teach singers of all levels and work across a wide range of styles, including pop, rock, gospel, jazz and musical theatre. Lessons combine healthy, sustainable vocal technique with musicality, interpretation and performance. I aim to demystify vocal technique, breaking it down into practical, manageable tools that students can understand, feel and use independently.
Whether you’re a beginner wanting to find your voice, an experienced singer looking to develop your technique, or a performer preparing for an important audition, we’ll identify what you need and build the lesson around you.
Acting & Audition Coaching
I coach acting, monologues, songs and audition technique for both working actors and students applying to drama schools and conservatoires. As someone currently working professionally in the industry, I bring an up-to-date understanding of the audition process into the room.
For drama school and conservatoire applicants, I can help with everything from choosing suitable repertoire and building a rep folder to detailed work on songs, monologues, acting through song and audition technique. Recent students have gained places at RAM (Musical Theatre, full scholarship), RCS, RWCMD, Bird College (Acting for Screen, full scholarship), Laine, Italia Conti and many more.
Self-Tape Coaching
I have a full professional self-tape set-up and can coach, record and edit audition tapes. Having both a voice and acting coach in the room can be particularly useful for musical theatre and screen auditions: we can work on the performance, vocal delivery and technical requirements of the tape together, rather than treating them as separate things.
Lessons
Lessons are usually one hour and are open to adults and young people, from beginners through to professional performers. I’m based in Morningside, Edinburgh, where I teach from home in a bright, spacious environment. Online lessons via Zoom are also available.
My aim is to create a relaxed and encouraging space where you can take risks and build confidence, while also being challenged to develop your technique and become a more independent, expressive performer.

Natalie is a phenomenal teacher amd regardless of your skill or experience, I promise you Natalie has something to teach you.
She has such a great range of experience to rely on that will help you connect with your own voice. As a performer myself, I have used the lessons from Natalie to not only improve my singing but my overall ability to use my voice.
She is fantastic!!!!Natalie is a fantastic teacher. She has a great breadth of knowledge of vocal teaching techniques and has a superb ear for repertoire selections. Without Natalie I’m not sure I would’ve gotten into drama school - I can’t recommend highly enough!

Free initial consultation (30 minutes)
The complimentary first meeting is a 30-minute consultation rather than a teaching session. We’ll discuss your experience, goals and what you’d like to work on, and I can recommend how we might structure future sessions. For audition or conservatoire applicants, we can also discuss repertoire, audition requirements and preparation.
