About Kristin
I am a film and television professional: a writer, director and behind-the-scenes creative. I have written two textbooks about the entertainment business that are in use today at the university level, along with dozens of screenplays, pitches, treatments, several other non-fiction books and a volume of poetry. I hold two degrees from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. I have been successfully helping kids apply to college for six years. I love writing, and I take it seriously. I enjoy working with kids very much, and I expect them to take it seriously as well. We are here to work and learn and to create beautiful things - writing that "takes it to the next level," so to speak. We will have a lot of fun together, but it is a discipline and we will be building the writing muscle.

If I am functioning as a College Mentor, I will be helping your student down the path of college application - from learning about different educational opportunities and institutions to writing essays, building a strategy, and eventually applying. If I am functioning as a tutor, I will be helping your student with their existing coursework. I can work with students ages 11 - 18 who are motivated, curious and want to be there. I love writing, and am happy to share this love with your student. I can work with college and adult-level students as well, honing essays, resumes, pitch, love, complaint and cover letters.
With regard to college mentoring, it is best to start junior year (grade 11), to lay the groundwork for research and development. Students should start thinking about where they might want to go, what they might want to study, and how they want to get there. I am here to make all of that happen, to help them find clarity, purpose and their path. But don't fret if they are already seniors - we can still make the magic happen!
I can help your student shape their essays, understand the context of their assignments, write with greater clarity, organize their thoughts and express their ideas in detail. But I will NOT write for them. They must be motivated to improve and willing to learn. Every 60-minute session will begin with an overview of their current assignments and we will polish and perfect them within that timeframe. If you think that your student needs a 120-minute session, we can work that out, but 120 minutes is the maximum. Thank you & merci!

Kristin is a wonderful mentor. She helped me build confidence in my writing during my college application process, and years later, she has continued to guide me on how to succeed as both a college student and an adult. She was very patient when teaching and always made a point to respect my voice, guiding me without ever taking over. Her teaching style is nurturing rather than simply instructive, and she allowed me to organically develop my own writing skills instead of just telling me what to do. Kristin’s approach not only strengthened my writing but also gave me the confidence to trust my own ideas.
Even years after those first sessions, Kristin has continued to be a source of guidance and encouragement as I navigated college and adulthood. She has a unique ability to balance support with independence, giving students the space to grow while still making them feel fully supported. Her teaching style is not rigid, which makes her an excellent fit for students who may lack confidence in their writing or who are just beginning to find their voice.
I wholeheartedly recommend Kristin as an English tutor. She is thoughtful, patient, and deeply invested in the growth of her students. Anyone who has the chance to work with her will benefit not only from her knowledge but also from her encouragement and belief in their potential. It is truly an honor for me to write about Kristin, who has been both a teacher mentor and a dear friend to me and my children. Over the years, she has become a constant source of wisdom, support, and encouragement — someone we can always count on. What makes Kristin so extraordinary is not just her professionalism as an educator, but the heart and integrity she brings into every interaction. She embodies what it means to be trustworthy, compassionate, and selfless.
One of the greatest examples of her character is the way she stepped in to help my oldest son. Completely on her own, Kristin devoted her time, energy, and care to guide him through one of the most important chapters of his young life. She worked tirelessly and voluntarily — mentoring him, encouraging him, and helping him believe in his own potential. Because of her relentless dedication, he was able to achieve something truly remarkable: acceptance into one of the most prestigious schools in the nation with a full-ride scholarship.
What impressed me even more was the way Kristin drew on her network and collaborated with others to make sure my son had every possible advantage. She partnered closely with another wonderful lady — someone with both the perspective of a parent and a strong academic background — and together they poured their time and effort into helping my son succeed. This teamwork, initiated by Kristin, shows not only her generosity but also her wisdom in bringing in voices and support that could enrich the process even further.
This was not just about academic guidance; it was about the way Kristin uplifted him, pushed him to see possibilities he had never considered, and stood by him every step of the way. What she gave him was far greater than just support with school applications — she gave him confidence, hope, and the reassurance that someone believed in him deeply. That kind of gift is priceless, and it can only come from someone with a heart as genuine as Kristin’s.
For me and my family, Kristin has become more than just a teacher or mentor. She has been an advocate, a friend, and a role model — both for my children and for me as a parent. The fact that she has done all of this voluntarily, purely out of love and commitment, speaks volumes about her character. She never looked for recognition or reward, but simply gave of herself because she truly cares.
I trust Kristin completely, and I know that any student, parent, or colleague who has the privilege of working with her will feel the same. She represents the very best of what an educator and mentor should be — someone who inspires, uplifts, and makes a lifelong impact. I will always be grateful for the way she has changed the trajectory of my son’s life, and I know her influence will continue to shine through everything he accomplishes in the future.Kristin assisted me with all of my college essays! She helped me think of ideas that I was passionate about and that fit the prompts. As a first-generation student, I didn't fully understand the application process, but Kristin walked me through everything and answered any questions I had! She is driven, thorough, and attentive. I truly don't think I would've been able to apply to as many schools as I did without her help!
