About Samantha
I am an English major from Hunter college, lifelong reader and writer looking to help students develop their creative skills. I have worked as a TA in poetry and other creative writing courses. I am also published in several literature magazines.

I will begin my classes with a brief lesson about a specific important poetical device and then my students and I will practice integrating the poetic element into our own work by first writing a poem together and then moving onto writing independently. We will then read our poems together and talk about what we liked and what could be improved upon. In addition to this, we will analyze poems by authors like Gwendolyn Brooks, Beatrix Potter, and Lucille Clifton. Mostly the course will focus on my students developing their own craft. (NB. I will be happy to adjust the course according to the age groups of my students).
