I have known Monica for about 15 years now, and she taught me Spanish when I was a student. I am now a Spanish teacher at a secondary school and I can honestly say that this career, along with my in-depth Spanish knowledge would not have been possible without having had her tuition.

What sets Monica apart from other teachers is her unwavering dedication, passion and motivation in teaching and this is very much reflected in her teaching style. She is animated, super helpful and supportive in every lesson she undertakes, and will always go the extra mile in ensuring you have fully understood a concept before moving on. She does all of this while being constantly attentive to adapt and cater to the level and needs of the student.

Monica is truly the best Spanish teacher I’ve ever had. Her classes are so much fun—she’s an incredible person and has this great, interactive way of teaching that keeps things super interesting. Instead of just focusing on tedious grammar rules, she brings the language to life by mixing in things about culture and food, which makes every lesson unique. I loved the immersion programme she organised -it was super interesting, mixing actual classes with getting to know the Basque culture and Bilbao. She is also so patient and completely takes the pressure off when you make mistakes. If you want to learn practical Spanish and actually enjoy the process, I cannot recommend her enough!

Mónica is a great teacher! She helped me learn a lot of the grammar at B1 level, that I was missing, in such an easy and simple way. After that, there was a recognisable difference in my ability to express myself more clearly and a renewed excitement about learning.

Her enthusiasm for teaching is infectious, and her choice of topics and storytelling is fabulous. Injecting her students with not only a desire to continue learning Spanish, but to also learn more about a country and culture that she is so passionate about sharing. I highly recommend her!

I studied Spanish with Mónica for over a year, as an individual adult student who wanted to learn the language for my own pleasure.

I hadn’t studied via remote learning/video link before so I was a little unsure what to expect but Mónica’s friendly welcome and her obvious enthusiasm for teaching immediately put me at my ease. During our first online session we discussed why I wanted to learn Spanish and what style of teaching would suit me best, which meant I went into the process with clear objectives and confidence.

Mónica excelled at providing teaching material and exercises that placed my learning within the wider context of Spanish (and sometimes also South American) life, culture, and history. This added valuable extra interest to the lessons and to the independent work I was provided with to do between classes. Mónica always provided me with an excellent variety of online resources to consolidate what we had learned during our sessions and a broad range of learning material that included short films, interactive exercises and quizzes.

As I was learning for pleasure and not for a specific qualification, the classes were often conversation driven which provided me with confidence to converse in Spanish outside of the classroom setting. However, I also know that Mónica put a lot of work in behind the scenes to ensure that the lessons - individually and as part of a long term process – were structured to be both consistently stimulating and goal driven.

There were a couple of occasions when I lacked confidence about my abilities and Mónica was always very supportive and encouraging. If I was struggling with a particular aspect of the language, Mónica was happy to be flexible in what we covered in class, so that we could spend extra time on that area before moving on to the next stage.

Aside from her high professional standards as a teacher, I should also say that Mónica’s positive and friendly personality made the lessons a real pleasure and I enjoyed our classes very much. I looked forward to them each week and I always left them feeling confident and motivated to learn more.

I have had to stop my Spanish language journey for now, for personal reasons, but I very much hope that circumstances will allow me to resume learning with Mónica again in the hopefully near future

I liked her straightforwardness as well. She doesn’t hesitate to tell you not to do something when you are preparing for an exam! I remember asking her if someone can do a novel in the speaking research? She said no, no, no! I was nearly to cry lol, as I had no clue what to do.

I highly recommend Monica to anyone looking to learn or improve their Spanish. I’ve experienced both her group classes and one-to-one sessions, and she is excellent in both formats.

As a native speaker, she brings an authentic understanding of the language, and she is always well-prepared with structured, relevant material. What really sets Monica apart is her ability to make you feel completely at ease. Learning a language can be intimidating, but her classes are fun and relaxed, completely removing the pressure of making mistakes.

Monica has taught me for a number of years, both as part of a class and also one-on-one for the exams that I have taken. Her understanding and ability to explain, encourage, and motivate is beyond comparison. She tailors each class and topic to the individual and focuses on the learning objectives that are important to you. She uses multiple formats, including videos, music, and reading as a means both to learn important grammar structures and to gain a love for the language, which helps you when you're in the real world trying to speak to native speakers. Every class involves the opportunity to speak and develop competence in unprepared conversation, which is vital for real life. She has knowledge of all the major Spanish exam boards and, in fact, has written some examination papers and will be an examiner for the DELE this year. As a native speaker, she will give you a real-world Spanish language education that goes beyond the usual textbook approach. I have recommended her to a number of my friends and have no hesitation in giving her 5 stars!

Monica had already been an online tutor for a doctor friend of mine. He recommended her, and she tutored both my teenage children for school GCSE Spanish. She was genuinely enthusiastic and a pragmatic teacher for them. We are very happy to recommend her, and she, hopefully, will help tutor our younger daughter for Spanish next year!
