About Jessica
"Fail to prepare, prepare to fail."
Nobody is born smart. You do not enter this world with a graduation cap and the ability to tell me why Fluorine is the most reactive halogen. Like any skill in life, these things take time and effort.
But equally, if you put a lot of time and effort in the wrong place, or using the wrong technique, then you will get nowhere. I am here to guide you with research based teaching methods to, not just pass an exam, but learn to a level of mastery of the subject. As long as you have the inner drive to succeed, then you will get there!
I love Science so much as I love finding out how things work in this world. I love knowing how our bodies protect us from invading viruses, or how we are able to digest food everyday, or how the Earth keeps spinning to give us day and night.
Being able to share this joy of learning about how the world around us is my favourite part about my job! The best moment in teaching is when student have that lightbulb ding and say "Ah! I get it now!"

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (BSc) and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE). I have Qualified Teacher Status and currently am a teacher at a Secondary State School. I am fully qualified to teach up to A-level.
I teach Year 7-11 (Ages 11-16) for all Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and Year 12-13 (Ages 16-18) for Biology only.
I teach AQA for both GCSE and A-level. While AQA is preferred for both, I am able to offer other exam boards for GCSE such as Edexcel and OCR. Please do ask if you are on a different exam board.
My teaching method relies on research and evidence-based techniques from current literature. I am always reading and learning, in order to find the approaches from the best academics in teaching and education across the world.
I am a very flexible tutor and am willing to see what works for the both of us. Lessons can range from an hour to two, depending on what is best.
