About Mad With

Hi, I'm Jerlyn, a Singapore-based Math tutor. I enjoy helping students who feel stuck or anxious about Math discover that it can make sense, one step at a time.

What I find most rewarding is seeing students improve, understand concepts they once struggled with, and grow more confident in their abilities.

I hold a degree in Business (Marketing) and have 14 years of private tutoring experience, as well as two years of group tuition teaching experience.

How I work with students
I use past year examination papers from Singapore schools as teaching materials because they help students become familiar with the types of questions and concepts tested in school. I focus on building a strong understanding of each topic before progressing to more challenging questions, and I use everyday examples to make concepts easier to understand and remember.

Whether your child is shy or outspoken, I aim to create a comfortable learning environment where they feel encouraged to ask questions and clarify doubts. I also keep parents informed about their child's progress so we can work together to support their learning.

Hi, I'm Jerlyn, a Singapore-based Math tutor with 14 years of teaching experience, helping students strengthen their understanding of Mathematics and become more confident problem solvers.

My teaching approach
I use Singapore Math methods to help students understand concepts step by step. Where appropriate, I use visual methods such as bar models and number bonds, together with problem-solving strategies, to help students understand why a method works rather than simply memorizing steps.

My problem-solving techniques include model drawing, the assumption method, grouping, and equivalent ratios. I guide students through these methods so they can apply them to different types of questions.

I have experience helping students who struggle with Math. For example, one student improved from 20/100 to 43/100. As every student learns at a different pace, I focus on identifying gaps in understanding and helping each student make progress.

What I can help with
- Primary Math, including number sense, fractions, ratios, and word problems
- PSLE Math preparation, for Singapore's Primary School Leaving Examination
- Lower secondary Math for Secondary 1 and Secondary 2 students
- AEIS Math preparation for international students seeking admission to Singapore schools
- Support for overseas students following Singapore Math textbooks

How lessons work
Lessons are conducted live, one to one, via Zoom or Google Meet, using a digital whiteboard. Students work through questions with my guidance. Lessons may include a short recap and practice questions to reinforce learning. I also provide a progress update after every four lessons.

Trial lesson and fees
A discounted 30-minute trial lesson is available for S$15 (about US$12). Regular one-hour lessons are S$40 (about US$31).

I am available on weekdays from 3pm to 7pm Singapore time (UTC+8). Weekend mornings Singapore time are also available by arrangement, which may suit families in the US and other time zones.
