About Brianna
I originally trained as a primary school teacher but ended up teaching high school Special Education (and love it). I teach reading, writing and numeracy to students aged 12-18 who are starting at a whole range of different levels. Over the last 2 years I have done extensive literacy intervention training to upskill and be the best reading and writing teacher I can.

My strategy to teach reading and writing is to explicitly teach phonics and then repeat repeat repeat! Students need opportunities to engage in a wide variety of literature and to read daily. They should also be given the opportunity to write for themselves and make their own mistakes- in school there is so much focus on product and not enough focus on the learning taking place. Student learn best when they are comfortable to ask questions and free to make mistakes.
