About Ms Alexis
Hi, I'm Ms. Alexis Kotcamp. I am currently a college student studying secondary english education in Indiana. I substitute full time in Chicago, IL and am extremely invested in student growth (as individuals and scholars). I hold a substitute license in Illinois and will be certified to teach in Indiana when I graduate next year. My hope is to help anyone at the middle school, high school, or post-graduation/ college-prep level with reading, writing, or speaking skills. Based on my experience, students take to my teaching style well due to my open communication and relatable input. I would be thrilled to assist in any way necessary regarding english skills and material.

I teach students at a middle school, high school, or college-prep level to improve their writing skills through workshopping.
I use prompts similar to what is expected on state standardized exams or within the next grade level that the students are going into. I will walk you through what the prompts are asking for regarding essay format, attention to audience, academic rhetoric, use of quotations, point of view, etc. All workshops include up to three drafts of the paper or essay, where I provide detailed feedback and constructive feedback. As I explain why changes are necessary to improve the students' writing, we will work together to ensure these skills are adopted for future academic endeavors.
