About Megan

Hi! My name is Megan, I'm from Boston, Massachusetts, and I went to Roger Williams University as a double major in International Relations and Public Health with a minor in Spanish. After graduating at the top of my class, I moved to Spain to pursue my dream of being an English teacher. I have experience teaching and tutoring students of all ages, and I have a passion for mentoring youth and helping them succeed both inside and outside of the classroom. I currently teach at a high school in Madrid, where I run a program called Global Classrooms, which is a simulation of the United Nations. In this program, I help students hone their writing and public speaking skills, while helping them build the confidence to debate real-world issues with their fellow classmates.
Apart from my degree-related experience, I spent 4 years volunteering as a homework tutor for underprivileged students, which was what initially sparked my passion for teaching! I have also worked as a STEM instructor at a drone and robotics summer camp for youth, where I helped students cultivate their passions for science and technology in an interactive setting. Additionally, I co-facilitated a class with one of my university professors in which I helped mentor freshmen students and facilitate their transition to university life. Of all my teaching/tutoring experiences, my favorite was working as a Writing Tutor during my time on Semester at Sea (an interdisciplinary study abroad program in which students take all their courses on a ship and travel to 10 different countries throughout Asia, Africa, and Europe). While aboard this once-in-a-lifetime experience, I aided my classmates (both native and non-native English speakers) in achieving the goals of higher education by working with them on résumés, cover letters, and graduate school applications in addition to their regular coursework. I specialize in résumé and cover letter writing, English, writing, grammar, literature, proofreading/editing, public speaking, and many other subject matter.

About the lesson

I believe that every student is unique, and I work to tailor my lessons to the needs and preferences of individual students. I believe there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach to learning, which is why I strive to get to know my students on a personal level. By getting to know their passions and interests both inside and outside of the classroom, I can make my material as engaging and exciting as possible based on their preferences and unique learning styles.
