About Jennifer
I’ve been working with students 1-1 for as long as I can remember. I started my own tutoring company in high school, went on to tutor in college, continued through graduate school, and still tutor to this day. As a reading interventionist and special education teacher, my best skills are on focusing on what’s needed most. I like to incorporate lots of engaging material and project based tasks to break up the monotony of typical review instruction. I always tell my students, “never drown when you have a life raft and a life guard.”I’m very friendly and positive, but I definitely keep it realistic. I am looking forward to helping out however I can!

I’ll begin by learning about your student’s strengths and weakness from a variety of data sources. From there, I’ll isolate specific deficits/challenges for the student and develop a series of intervention lessons to maximize student growth.
As a reading specialist, I can figure out where the learning gaps occur. For example, I would be able to notice that a student is reading at a very slow rate (WPM) and that it’s caused from the student’s difficulty with decoding r-controlled vowels.
If working on comprehension, I would have the student identify the basic WH questions and build that skill,
before moving on to analysis of theme and literary elements.
From this baseline, I’ll create a unique, custom pathway for your student to be successful that efficiently uses their time focusing on their specific learning deficits.
