About Archie
I’m a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student at Imperial College London, and I tutor students from A-Level and GCSE to 11+ preparation. My academic background—including 3 A* grades at A-Level, including Mathematics and Physics, gives me the depth to explain concepts in a clear and logical manner.
I believe that confidence and motivation are the true foundations of academic success.
Many students are far more capable than they realise, they just need teaching that feels personalised to them. That’s what I prioritise.
Outside tutoring, I bring the same level of professionalism, organisation and clear communication that I’ve developed through managerial and customer facing roles. You can expect reliability, accountability and measurable progress.

I focus on identifying conceptual gaps that often hold students back, whether that’s weak foundations in basic algebra, misconceptions about physics concepts such like energy or force, and anxiety around exam technique. I then spend time improving and correcting those misconceptions before building onto more complex problems and concepts, related to the topic in hand.
I set weekly homework for all of my students, which is a combination of online materials and questions I've made myself - regardless I ensure the homework is exactly what is needed to consolidate and check a students learning.
I then spend the first 10 minutes of every session going over the homework, to serve as both a warmup task and to check if there is any gross misunderstanding that may need to be addressed that session.
Aside from that, the rest of the session is a structured explanation of the concepts where I probe base level understanding and correct any misconceptions, followed by example questions lead by myself, before moving on to student lead examples and trickier questions.
I break down the more challenging concepts into manageable steps, regularly check understanding, and balance positive reinforcement with thoughtful questioning that encourages independent thinking. I try to connect mathematics and physics to real world applications and, where possible, student’s own interests.
Closer to exams, I focus on past paper question run throughs and explaining worked solutions for questions that students have attempted in their own time, and don't yet grasp.
I’ve supported students targeting grade 9 at GCSE and A* at A-Level through structured revision, past paper work, and targeted practice of weak areas.
