About Tabatha

i’m tabatha, an english + math tutor with over 5 years of teaching experience and a degree from the university of são paulo (usp), #1 university in latin america.

i specialize in helping students prepare for standardized tests such as the sat, with a teaching approach that is highly personalized, strategic, and focused on results.

what makes my lessons different?

i don’t believe in wasting time studying things you already know — or spending hours on topics that won’t make a difference to your score.

before we start, i take the time to understand your current level, your goals, your strengths, and, most importantly, the areas that are holding your score back. from there, i create personalized lessons and materials specifically for you.

every student gets a different plan because every student needs something different.

what can you expect from my lessons?

sat reading & writing: reading comprehension, vocabulary in context, grammar, standard english conventions, rhetorical skills, evidence-based questions, main idea, inference, and author’s purpose.

sat math: problem-solving, algebra, advanced math, data analysis, problem-solving strategies, and learning how to approach the questions efficiently.

i also create my own customized materials based on each student's needs, so we can spend our time working on what will actually help you improve.

what happens when you start working with me?

preparing for the sat can be overwhelming, especially when you’re not sure what to focus on or how to improve your score. that’s why i don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. i want to understand how you learn, what you already know, and what’s actually getting in your way before deciding how we’ll work together.

your first session is completely free.

before we meet, i’ll ask you to send me a recent practice test or give you one to complete. we’ll go through your results together, look at the questions you missed, and figure out why you missed them. sometimes, it’s a gap in your knowledge. other times, it’s a question of timing, misreading the prompt, or not knowing how to approach a particular question.

understanding the difference is what helps us make progress.

based on your results, your target score, your test date, and how much time you have to study, i'll put together a study plan that makes sense for you.

every lesson has a purpose.

i create my own exercises and materials based on what each student needs, and we work with official sat questions, practice tests, and detailed mistake analysis.

if you understand a topic, we don't need to spend an entire lesson reviewing it. if something isn't clicking, we'll approach it differently. and if you keep getting a certain type of question wrong, we'll figure out what's happening and work on it until you know how to handle it on your own.

i want you to understand why an answer is correct, not just memorize a method and hope it works on test day.

and you won't have to figure everything out on your own between lessons.

i offer 24-hour support, so you can message me when you're stuck on a question, reviewing an exercise, or studying on your own. you don't have to sit with the same doubt for days just because our next class isn't until next week.

a little about me

i genuinely love teaching, and working with students who are figuring out their next steps academically is especially rewarding to me. i've worked with students with different goals, backgrounds, and learning styles, and i've had the pleasure of seeing my students get accepted into competitive universities and top schools.

of course, getting a great score matters. but i also want you to feel more confident in your ability to solve problems, recognize your mistakes, and tackle questions you've never seen before.

you don't have to come to class knowing everything. you can get questions wrong, struggle with a concept, or ask me to explain something again. i'd much rather you tell me you don't understand than pretend you do.

that's what we're here to work on.

when test day comes, i want you to feel prepared — not because you've memorized hundreds of answers, but because you understand the material, know how to approach the questions, and trust yourself to figure things out.
