About Sonia
A gifted reader and writer, I am the recipient of many university and national writing awards and literature fellowships. My English degree from Williams, a top-ranking elite college, gave me the highest quality literary education available. My writing awards include a Gold Portfolio in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards in four genres (fiction, science fiction, memoir, and poetry). I've worked as the editor of a non-profit, an academic writer, and a writing TA to middle-schoolers.

I am an engaging, supportive teacher eager to help you grow as a reader and writer. I can give English and writing support to K-12 and undergraduate students, or everyday folks looking to enrich and deepen their lives through literature and writing.
Let's plan out your writing assignments or work together to revise and edit drafts you've already made, whether of academic essays or short stories. I am an expert on English grammar and usage, consistently receiving an SAT Writing score of 800.
If you need help in your literature classes, we can go over general reading strategies (attention to tone, style, theme, imagery, etc.), work on an individual text together, or prepare for a test.
I am here for what you need: I can assign you reading to sharpen your readerly instincts, or we can delve more deeply into your class materials. At all times, I am your compassionate yet highly educated guide to reading and writing English. My teaching style is very individualized and casual--I'm here to share my love of this subject with you in a fun, friendly space.
