About Roua

I'm Roua, a linguist and language teacher from Tunisia. I hold a BA in English Language and Literature and an MA in Linguistics and English Studies, and I've worked in English professionally for over a decade: as a content producer at BBC Media Action, then in translation, transcription and multilingual content for international companies, including work on an Oscar-nominated documentary.

Teaching has run alongside all of it. I co-founded a language center in Tunis and have taught more than 1,200 online lessons to adults from France, the Maghreb and the Gulf. Arabic is my mother tongue, my French and English are both C2, and I've also studied Turkish, German and Chinese as an adult learner, so I know what it feels like to be on your side of the screen.

I'm organized, punctual, and direct with feedback, because that's what makes lessons worth paying for.

About the lesson

I teach English to French and Arabic speakers, and I start from the mistakes your language makes you make. I'm a native Arabic speaker with C2 French and an MA in linguistics, so when you say "I am agree" or drop the h in "hotel", I know exactly where it comes from and how to fix it for good.

My lessons are built around speaking. A typical session opens with ten minutes of free conversation, then we work on one thing that came up (a structure, a sound, a set of words you keep reaching for), then we use it again in a task close to your real life: a meeting, a presentation, a phone call, an exam question. You leave every lesson having said more than you thought you could.

I've taught over 3,000 online lessons and co-founded a language center before moving into full-time online teaching. I work with adults and university students from A2 to C1, especially people preparing oral exams, job interviews, or presentations, and professionals who read English well but freeze when they have to speak it.
