About April
I am currently a student studying English and French at the University of British Columbia, and I am working towards studying education in the future. I have been consistently placed at the top of my English and French classes in both high school and university, receiving 96% in English 12 Honours. I pursued English as an academic passion since my youth and grew up with French through French Immersion. I have also received the BC Excellence award and the Top Humanities Student award in high school.
I have previously tutored multiple students at varying ages and abilities. I have helped them achieve their academic goals and equipped them with the proper tools for success. I served as a teaching assistant multiple times during my education and used that position to improve the performance of the students around me.
Overall, given my experience in these areas, I am happy to assist you in improving your communication skills, provide advice for essays and oral communication, or help you further understand your class content for either English, French, or Humanities courses from primary education to lower-level university courses.

I strive to help my students work towards their goals in a healthy, fun, and sustainable way. I start off with a brief conversation about goals and areas for improvement then build on that to tailor the learning experience for that student. For instance, with writing, that may look proof-reading essays, creative writing exercises, or close readings of student's work. For French lessons, I have wide access to DELF exercises and French literary works; we can go over vocabulary learning exercises, writing and reading comprehension, and/or practice oral conversations.
My goal is to encourage and build confidence in students with defined and realistic goals, so students can see their progress through their sessions. Work with me so we can set yourself ready for the path of success!

I have studied with April for all of High school, and if there is one thing I csn say about her work ethic is that she does an amazing job. She keeps at it until shes happy with it which usually meant above average work. I know she excels at French , English, and social studies becuase she used to tutor me in high school. I highly recommend that you give her a chance, shes kind yet will give you the help you need
I was one of April's teachers in her Grade 12 year - for Honours English. April was new to the Honours and AP curriculum but proved to be one of the most apt and engaged students I ever had. She knows how to learn, and the is a bottom-line component for being a good teacher. Whatever level of English - basic fundamentals, or the fundamentals of theory, April understands the content, and she has the care and character to give you whatever help you might need. I sincerely recommend her.
