About Austin
I'm an English native who recently relocated from German-speaking Switzerland to study at the University of Southampton. Having attended Swiss local schools for over 10 years, German is as natural to me as my mother tongue — I don't just speak the language, I lived it.
I completed the IB Diploma in German A at native level, giving me a strong foundation in both the academic and everyday dimensions of the language. Beyond my own studies, I've tutored peers throughout my time in Switzerland and genuinely enjoy helping others navigate the nuances of German — whether that's grammar, pronunciation, or just building confidence in conversation.
My approach is relaxed and flexible: I can switch seamlessly between English and German so nothing ever gets lost in translation. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your existing skills, I'll make sure the sessions feel effective and hopefully fun and enjoyable

My approach to tutoring focuses on building confidence through active communication. Rather than relying only on memorising vocabulary or grammar rules, I encourage students to use German in real conversations from the beginning. This helps learners become comfortable thinking and responding in German naturally. Additionally, as I am also an English native speaker, I can easily switch between the two languages, translating any aspects that remain unclear
