About Shiv
I a final year student at the University of Birmingham studying Mathematics. I have experience of teaching GCSE Maths for over 3 years. I have previously worked for the tutoring service Kumon helping younger children develop their skills in Mathematics and English. By studying Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A-Level both my ability and passion for the subject has increased. I achieved an A* in Maths and Further Maths at A-Level, an A* in GCSE Maths and an A in Additional Maths. Maths is definitely the most rewarding subject I have studied and the feeling of satisfaction from tackling a difficult question and getting the right answer is something that a lot of people who study Maths enjoy.

I usually begin by asking students which exam syllabus they are. I then study the material before the session and find or create some practice questions that I would go through in the session as examples. If the student has any questions at the start of the session, I will address these first and then go on to systematically cover the topics in the GCSE Maths syllabus. The interactive whiteboard is also very useful and helps me illustrate the method used to tackle a question as well as supporting a student to work on their question. Once a student is confident with all the material in the syllabus, I will go through a past paper with them in the session and then ask them to complete more past papers in their own time which I would go through in the next session.
