About Mary Jo
I've been an English, Writing, and Literature teacher since 2001 and received my certification and Master's degree in 2005. I teach grades K-12 as well as college classes. My classrooms are usually about 25 students and my students give me high points on my ability to teach them well.

My teaching method is patience, flexibility, and student-centered. I prefer to "facillitate" rather than lecture. This means that I fully engage students in conversation and ask their opinions often. I usually have a classroom of diverse learners who really enjoy class participation. I believe if students are enjoying the class, lessons they learn will stay with them. I believe in inquiry-based learning and I encourage students to ask questions and consider what they want to know about the world around them.

Details
If cancellation by the student is less than 24 hours prior to the planned lesson, there is a cancellation fee of the amount agreed upon per hour in writing between the parents or student and the teacher.
My traveling costs are .55 per mile. The cost usually is about $5.00 but it varies a little.
Webcam charges are the same as if the student came to my home.
