About Michelle
I earned my degree from Purdue University in Special Education. I have taught in classrooms from grade 6-10. Later I went back to school to earn my math endorsement. I have tutored students with all levels of abilities from learning disabilities to advanced high ability in Algebra for the past 10 years.

If a popular song came on from 20 years ago, would you be able to sing along with it? Of course, you would. That is because we learn with song and repetition.
My tutoring style uses silly songs to remember formulas and execution of solving equations. I would rather my students know how to solve the problems than learn the vocabulary of specific components of Algebra. I mean, really who needs to know what a conjugate is anyway?
Additionally, I try to incorporate prior knowledge and interests into the lessons. For example, if the student is a football fan, I can use gained and lost yardage to help explain integers. Or a student who likes to sew using bolts of fabric to solve proportions.
