About Tejus

I am Tejus R S, a Bengaluru-based wildlife conservationist, independent journalist and environmental campaigner with over 12 years of experience in conservation advocacy.

My journey began with a deep interest in India's forests and wildlife, which gradually evolved into active involvement in major conservation campaigns, environmental policy discussions and investigative journalism.

I have authored more than 70 published articles, with my work appearing in publications including ThePrint, Deccan Herald and Green Minute. I am also a graduate of ThePrint School of Journalism.

Over the years, I have engaged with wildlife scientists, forest officials, policymakers and local communities, gaining valuable insights into the scientific, legal and administrative complexities of conservation.

Why do I want to teach?

I believe knowledge becomes truly valuable when it encourages independent thinking and meaningful action. Conservation needs people who can look beyond popular narratives, distinguish scientific evidence from opinion and understand how institutions and laws actually work.

Through teaching, I hope to share what I have learned over the years, inspire curiosity and help students develop the confidence to ask difficult questions.

Above all, I believe that protecting nature begins with understanding it.

About the lesson

Wildlife Conservation Beyond the Classroom: Where Science, Law and Journalism Meet

Why do conservation efforts succeed in some places and fail in others? How do laws, government policies, scientific research and public campaigns shape the future of our forests and wildlife? And how can powerful writing bring about meaningful change?

These are some of the questions we will explore together.

With over 12 years of experience in wildlife conservation, involvement in major conservation campaigns and more than 70 published articles, I bring a combination of field experience, investigative journalism and environmental advocacy to my classes.

What will you learn?

- Wildlife Conservation & Forestry: Ecology, biodiversity, protected areas, forest management and conservation challenges.
- Constitution & Environmental Law: Constitutional provisions, wildlife legislation, forest laws, landmark judgments and environmental governance.
- Investigative Journalism & Writing: Research techniques, fact-checking, interpreting scientific studies, building credible sources and writing compelling stories.
- Conservation Campaigns & Public Policy: Understanding environmental decision-making, examining development projects and building evidence-based conservation arguments.

How will the classes work?

Forget monotonous lectures. We will examine real conservation disputes, analyse government documents, discuss scientific findings, review investigative reports and understand how conservation campaigns unfold.

Classes will be interactive, discussion-driven and tailored to your interests, whether you are a student, aspiring journalist, researcher, conservation enthusiast or someone preparing to enter the environmental sector.

My objective is not merely to teach you about wildlife, but to equip you to think critically, investigate independently, understand the law and become an informed voice for conservation.
