About Riya
I am a self-taught artist. The subject of my artworks is my inner thoughts/emotions and questions about existence. My paintings are an attempt to give a visual form to the formless, just like how a child laughs to express joy or how we communicate with words and expressions. Most of my paintings are done in abstract expressionism style using watercolors or acrylics. I have been teaching art since 2020, online and offline.

I would like to 1st know what kind of work the student would prefer and will teach accordingly while also encouraging them to explore other options.
I believe more than skill art is about creativity. While skill can be learned, it is also important to have a creative mind. I would like to work on developing creativity alongside skill.

Perfect! Teaching a teenager or an adult is simpler. However, teaching a 6 year old is just so difficult and I know this as I myself have been in that place. As a teacher you need a fine balancing act between developing rapport, teaching basics, keeping the interest going and inculcating discipline. With Riya I consider myself lucky to have found a teacher who has got that balance right. I have had innumerable feedback from my wife about the cheering face of my daughter enjoying her class with Riya. As a kid I remember trying to find an excuse to miss my arts class but my daughter anxiously waits for her class with Riya. I notice improvement and increasing interest in my daughter since she has been attending classes. Riya lets us know what the kid has to practice in the week and she keeps it at just the right level. Riya will be a great teacher for any age. Thanks Riya!!
